The 1996 NCAA Basketball Champions were the Kentucky Wildcats. This was their sixth national championship and first under head coach Rick Pitino. Led by future NBA stars Tony Delk and Antoine Walker, the Wildcats had a dominant season with a record of 34-2. They defeated the Syracuse Orange in the championship game, winning 76-67. Kentucky's championship run included wins over powerhouse teams like Wake Forest, Arizona, and UMass. The team has since been celebrated for their fast-paced offensive style and aggressive defense, earning them the nickname "The Untouchables."
